The building inspector turned the framing inspection down on a room addition that they were building, because they nailed all of the shear panel 2 inches on center. This weekends a 2 x 4 and often splits it, creating problems with the strength of the wall. I'm here to tell you that over nailing shear panel framing can create structural problems for your home and building inspections. These are the problems at home builders face daily and inexperienced home builders will obviously face more of them, until they have learned the tricks of the trade.
